Former Yankees outfielder and baseball legend Reggie Jackson was a such big fan of the New York Mets hire of Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza that he took his time out of the day to publicy endorse it on X.

As stated in his post above, Reggie fully endorses the hire of Mendoza being the 24th manager in franchise history. The biggest worry about Mendoza that every fan has (including myself to a degree) is that he has zero MLB managerial experience. However, I am open to the idea of having a first time manager especially with David Stearns at the helm. Everyone needs to get their start somewhere and Stearns was the guy that gave now Cubs manager Craig Counsell his break in managing. It may not be the safe or sexy hire, but this move of bringing in Mendoza has been applauded by many league executives.
SNY insider Andy Martino published earlier sunday that the Mets are on track to announce the hiring on Carlos Mendoza on Monday with a press conferenceon Tuesday at Citi Field. Mets fans should be excited rather than stress about this new era in Mets baseball and that era is the Stearns era.
