Holmes and Soto shine in their first spring training game.

Spring Training games has officially begun as the road to Opening Day 2025 begin. The Mets opened up their spring against the Astros and the stars were out for New York. The lineup consisted of many regulars such as Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, Francisco Alvarez, and the newly acquired Juan Soto. The two biggest question marks coming into this game were Juan Soto and how Clay Holmes looks as he builds up to start for this upcoming year.

We for sure got those answers yesterday as both players shined in their first spring game in the blue and orange. Juan Soto made his presence known yesterday at Clover Park parking a ball over the fence in left center in his first at bat. Clay Holmes also impressed many as he pitched three scoreless innings striking out three while showing off his new pitch that he developed called the "kick change". It is only the first game of the spring so of course there are going to be bumps in the road for Clay Holmes moving forward. However, this is a positive sign to see because of the uncertainty of Frankie Montas in 2025 . Should be very intriguing to see from Kodai Senga, Brett Baty, and Luis Angel Acuna.
