Yesterday the Mets hosted their fan fest called "Amazin Day" which is an event held at Citi Field where the fans can interact with players of the past and present along with Steve Cohen and David Stearns. On a personal note I wish I was able to be in attendance, but tickets sold out instantly. Here is the biggest takeaway (not including Pete Alonso drama) from Citi Field.
Acuna will play a "huge role" in 2025
Carlos Mendoza was asked by the media about the role for Luisangel Acuna for this upcoming season. Mendoza stated he is going to play a huge role for the team and has even stated that he has been taking ground balls at third base putting him in the third base competition mix. Acuna struggled AAA batting just .258 with a .654 OPS, but made an immediate impact once got promoted to the MLB roster to cover for Francisco Lindor as he was nursing a back injury. In the 14 games Acuna played he slashed .308/.325/.495 with a .914 OPS. A very small sample size, but a very promising sample size to say the least especially translating that success in the winter league. I still think Acuna still needs more to prove that he can belong here and he is certainly trending in that direction.
